There's More Than One Style Of Vinyl Fence

When you think of a vinyl fence, what style comes to mind? People often first imagine a solid vinyl fence – one that's about 4 to 6 feet tall and blocks the view into your yard. This is a common type of vinyl fence, and it's a great type to choose if privacy is your main goal. However, it is far from the only style of vinyl fence that's available. Here are three other styles of vinyl fencing you might want to consider, especially if you're not sold on an entirely solid vinyl fence.
Lattice Fencing
A lattice fence consists of multiple framed panels. Each panel has a lattice pattern in its interior. Lattice consists of thin slates of vinyl which are placed on both diagonals to form a diamond-like pattern. Lattice fencing does restrict the view into your yard and gives you some privacy, but someone can still look through it if they try. Sunlight can shine through a lattice fence, too.
Post-and-Rail Fencing
The post-and-rail style of fencing is common with wooden fences. You can find vinyl fencing made in this style, too. It's a very simple, minimalist type of fence. You have vertical posts and then two or three rails placed across them. You can obviously see right through this fence, and it is easy for someone to climb over. So it does not offer a lot in terms of privacy or security. However, a post-and-rail vinyl fence can keep horses or cattle inside, and it can also be a fun decorative choice.
Picket Fence
A picket fence has two horizontal rails, plus lots of vertical pickets that are attached to those rails. Your fence maker can leave a little space or a lot of space between the pickets. This type of fence offers some privacy, but it's not entirely solid. It has a more traditional or country look and is, therefore, a common choice for cottages and country homes. Some people also use picket vinyl fences to keep dogs in the yard. If you go this route, just make sure you have the pickets placed close enough together so your dog can't sneak between them.
